The Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation today paid tribute to the remarkable leadership and service of Honourable Eng. Collins Nzovu as he delivered his farewell remarks ahead of the dissolution of Parliament and Cabinet.

In an emotional and reflective address, Hon. Nzovu expressed profound gratitude to the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, for the confidence and opportunity accorded to him to serve the nation under the New Dawn Administration.

The Minister described President Hichilema as a visionary leader whose commitment to national development restored hope, direction, and purpose for the country at a critical time in Zambia’s history. He further expressed honour at having served as Zambia’s first Minister of Green Economy and Environment before later being entrusted with the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation.

Hon. Nzovu paid glowing tribute to the dedicated members of staff across the Ministry and its institutions, acknowledging the collective efforts that contributed to improving water supply and sanitation services across the country.

He commended cleaners and support staff for their professionalism and commitment to maintaining a dignified working environment, while also recognising drivers for their tireless service in supporting operations across difficult terrains and during national emergencies.

The Minister further praised secretaries and administrative personnel for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the Ministry, and applauded engineers, technocrats, planners, and directors for translating government policies into tangible development outcomes for the Zambian people.

Special recognition was also extended to the Permanent Secretary Eng. Romas Kamanga for providing steadfast leadership, professionalism, and continuity during challenging periods.

Reflecting on the Ministry’s achievements, Hon. Nzovu highlighted the expansion of water supply schemes, rehabilitation of critical infrastructure, strengthening of sanitation systems, and the collective response to national emergencies such as cholera outbreaks and drought situations.

He emphasised that every success recorded by the Ministry was the result of teamwork and dedication from all staff members, regardless of rank or responsibility.

“As I leave office, my humble appeal to you is this: continue serving with integrity, dedication, and compassion. Ministers may come and go, but the responsibility to serve the people of Zambia remains constant,” he said.

Hon. Nzovu concluded by expressing pride in having served alongside the Ministry’s staff and under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, while reaffirming his confidence in the Ministry’s continued commitment to delivering quality water and sanitation services to the people of Zambia.
